Reports say that an Idaho mother of a screaming 10-month-old baby receives a "mean note" from two fellow diners. They claimed that they were upset as her son just ruined their dinner with his yelling.
KTVB reported that mom Katie Leach was having dinner with her family at Texas Roadhouse in Nampa, Idaho, when her son got excited and started yelling.
“We all tried quieting him down which a majority of the time he did but he also was so excited to be around all the commotion,” Leach told KTVB. “He was not yelling to be mean or because he was mad, it was purely from excitement and being happy.”
Leach added that yelling was her son’s “new thing.” She also wrote in a Facebook post that the little one tends to yell when she tells him 'NO' or when he's excited, feeling extreme emotions or doing so for no reason at all. “I'm doing my best to teach him indoor voice and to not yell back at me when telling him no etc, But he is only 10 (almost 11 months) and LEARNING,” she explained.
Two women in their late 50's or early 60's sat behind the family decided to help Katie out by slamming down a totally passive-aggressive note in front of her, on their table.
The diners' controversial note
Right away, she confronted the two 'upset' diners and explained to them that her son is still learning. To her surprise, the ladies told her that their grandchildren never behave like that.
Disappointed, Leach then spoke with the manager, who apologized to her for the way how her family was treated. Leach said the manager even paid for their meal and responded to this incident by telling the two women that they could finish their dinner, but that they had to quietly leave after.
Texas Roadhouse spokesman Travis Doster issued the following statement regarding the incident:
“We're in the hospitality business. We want all our guests to have a great experience. We were voted one of the loudest restaurants by Consumer Reports. We are proud to be loud. If you want to hear clinking wine glasses and clinking forks, then this probably isn't the place for you.”
The incident had hundreds of comments on Facebook, with many people expressing sympathy for the diners whose meal was disrupted. Likewise, the note has become viral as many have thought is as excessive. However, other netizens also said that the parents should have stepped out or left the eatery.
