Prometheus Sequel 'Alien: Paradise Lost' Characters, Plot Revealed?

Director Ridley Scott has began to reveal more information about the sequel to the film "Prometheus."

According to Screen Rant, the title of the movie is now "Alien: Paradise Lost", and the movie will pick up where "Prometheus" left off.

The movie begins with Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and damaged android David (Michael Fassbender) heading to the Engineer's home world in their salvaged alien spaceship. However, Scott has confirmed that the two survivors of the mission to moon LV-223 will not be alone during the whole voyage. According to Movie Web, Scott did not reveal any information about the characters who will encounter Shaw and David.

With the announcement of new characters who are most presumably going to be human, questions have arisen on who they are. While they could possibly be a military rescue mission sent by the Weyland Corporation, many have speculated that these new characters are most likely from another commercial craft who unwittingly came across Shaw's alien vessel.

It is also safe to say that not all of these new characters will make it out alive by the end of "Alien: Paradise Lost", and with the movie being written by Jake Paglen of "Transcendence" and Michael Green of "Blade Runner 2", the film looks to be leaning more towards the horror aspect of the sci-fi / horror genre.

Rumors have also began to circulate that audiences may see Ellen Ripley, played by Sigourney Weaver in several of the "Alien" films, chronologically for the first time in the series. However, diehard fans of the series are stating that timeline wise, this could prove to be difficult.

According to the lore behind the "Alien" franchise, Ellen Ripley was born in the year 2092 and wasn't employed onto a spaceship until 2122, at which point she was hired by the Weyland-Yutani corporation to command the USCSS Nostromo. The Prometheus, however, was launched in 2093, meaning that Ripley would be a newborn baby less than a year old if she were to make an appearance in "Alien: Lost Paradise." Therefore, the likelihood of Ripley making a noticeable appearance in the film is highly doubtful.

"Alien: Paradise Lost" is set to start filming by March 2016, and 20th Century Fox is hoping to have the movie out by summer of 2017. However, even if all things go well for the film, it will still have to contend with "Star Wars Episode VIII" during that time period.
