Salma Hayek Supports Hillary Clinton, Helps Launch 'Latinos For Hillary'

Salma Hayek joins other Hollywood celebrities like Eva Longoria and Rosario Dawson who are rallying in politics.

The Mexican actress announced on Tuesday that she is joining Hillary Clinton's campaign "Latinos for Hillary." In a report by Fox News Latino, Hayek said that she will not let hate and discrimination be a factor in the outcome of the election.

"We cannot let hate and discrimination determine the outcome of this election. We owe it to the hardworking Latinos that came before us, to ourselves and to our children, to show the people who unfairly label us as criminals and speak down to us that our community is strong, meaningful and incredibly powerful," Hayek said.

Salma said that the Latino community, which is the "largest, youngest and fastest-growing" community in the United States, deserves someone who acknowledges the contributions they have made in the country.

Hayek said that she is "proud" to be of help for the "Latinos for Hillary" campaign. The actress even cited that it comes as an advantage that the leading candidate of the Republican Party is using "hate" to win votes.

"(It's incredible) that the leading candidate of the Republican Party has been irresponsibly campaigning, using unfounded and insulting accusations against the Latino community to win votes," Salma said.

Since he announced his candidacy in June, Donald Trump has been under fire from the Latino community. This is because of his racist accusations against Latinos and his promise to deport all undocumented foreigners out of America. This has sparked anger from Latinos, including famous celebrities.

The "Latinos for Hillary" campaign was launched last week. It also included activities and events during the Hispanic Heritage month. As part of the campaign, Hillary is expected to do lots of interviews with different Latino media outlets, as well as with other Latin celebrities that are voicing out their support for her.

America Ferrera, who has not officially announced her participation in "Latinos for Hillary", voiced out her support for Clinton when she announced her intention to run for President in April.

"I believed in her and I believe in her now," Ferrera said.

Singer Marc Anthony also joined the campaign and even invited Hillary to come up on stage during one of his concerts in Miami this week, reported Latin Herald Tribune. Using his Twitter account, he urged others to join Hillary's campaign, citing that their votes could make a difference.

Demi Lovato's boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama, also expressed his support for the former Secretary of State.
