None of Isabella Cruise's adoptive parents were present at her wedding, some reports said. Was this because she banned them from the event?
The adoptive daughter of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman exchanged "I do's" with Max Parker, her boyfriend of less than a year, on September 18 at the Dorchester Hotel in London. However, neither of her parents were around to celebrate the event with her.
"Isabella and Parker wanted the romantic affair to be so low-key and private that they decided against inviting her A-list celebrity parents," People revealed. "Isabella's younger brother, Connor, was also reportedly absent from the nuptials."
The publication added that there were "no hard feelings" between her and her parents. A testament to that is the fact that the "Mission Impossible" star footed the bill for the wedding and the party himself.
Interestingly, Kidman was in London at the time of the wedding preparing for a West End play. However, her presence at the intimate gathering was prevented for fear that it would cause "a media circus," MailOnline noted. The actress reportedly met her daughter and her fiance before the wedding, though.
"Nicole was actually involved with the wedding preparations and she did have a private dinner with Bella and Max," a source allegedly said. "But she didn't go to the ceremony. Also, the animosity between Tom and Nicole was probably a factor."
There have been reports, though, that Kidman did not know about the wedding. Some even alleged she was there, or that her former husband was there. When requested for comment, the Oscar-winning actress' representatives did not respond.
"Miss Cruise, 22, a hair and make-up artist at Vidal Sassoon in London, is believed to have been introduced to Mr Parker, an IT consultant, by mutual friends nearly a year ago," the British publication said. "He lives in East Grinstead, West Sussex, near the Scientology headquarters, while one of his groomsmen was said to be Fabiano Calcioli, a renowned Scientologist."
"But he is not thought to follow the religion, unlike his new wife and her father and brother," the news source added.
There also have been talk that Cruise inhibited himself from the event due also to the fact that Parker is not a Scientologist.
Previously, there was talk that the "Moulin Rouge" star had a rift with her daughter - a rumor she dismissed. She had been quoted as saying that her adoptive children had chosen to live with Cruise, and that she respected their decision.
