The Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California, on Saturday will host the latest chapter in one of the most intriguing and exciting rivalries in world sport.
Mexico will face off against the United States for a chance to feature as the CONCACAF representative in the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia.
The match brings the two heavyweights of the CONCACAF region together for the 66th time and, with both sides under increased pressure to win, this latest match could be one of the most fascinating yet.
The two sides have shared a rivalry that goes back to the 1930s. We take a look back at some of their all time best matches as we, along with the rest of the soccer world, continues to count down the hours until Saturday's kick off.
Despite having won the two sides first ever encounter in 1934 the USMNT were generally unable to register many positive results against Mexico historically.
The pattern of the rivalry changed, however, in 1991 at the inaugural Gold Cup when the US finally began to produce more talented soccer players and shocked the Mexicans in the Semi-Finals before going on to win the tournament - a landmark moment in US soccer history.
The Mexican were soon to exact revenge by claiming victory in the 1993 Gold Cup Final in front of a packed Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
The US claimed its biggest victory over Mexico ever in 1995, destroying an experienced Mexican side 4-0 in Washington. The world was also introduced to a young Claudio Reyna.
The US would then claim a famous victory at the 2002 World Cup, where goals by Landon Donovan and Brian McBride earned the USMNT passage to the Quarter-Final stage as players brought through the MLS showed that the US were capable of producing top quality soccer players.
The famous 2011 Gold Cup Final was one of the greatest games ever to be contested under the CONCACAF banner and El Tri emerged with a historic victory after overcoming a two goal first half deficit. Look out for the great Dos Santos goal...
Then, the 2012 shocking result that registered the USMNT as a serious contender. For the first time in its history the US traveled to the Azteca stadium and won. Michael Orozco scored the only goal and capped a heroic performance from a young USMNT.
The US are now unbeaten in their last six matches against Mexico and they will be hoping to continue that run on Saturday. El Tri will be out for revenge with the chance to beat the US on their own turf and head to Russian kings of CONCACAF
