LeBron James knows how it is to fall but he has also proven how he can stand again and perhaps with attitude.
Despite his vaunted efforts in the last NBA playoffs, it was obvious that he cannot everything on his own. He still needs team support and if all goes well, the Cleveland Cavaliers could very well win their first NBA title this season.
"My ultimate goal is to win a championship, and it starts now” says James in an interview with USA Today.
James knows that heading into the 2015-16 NBA season, all teams will start from scratch. The team has minimal additions to the roster with most of the team members (except Tristan Thompson) accounted for.
Despite proving how good a basketball player he is, James is aware that work still needs to be done. The team is coming into the new season with something they didn’t have last season – chemistry and experience – and such is expected to be a vital advantage the Cavs carry this season.
"I will take all the pain that comes with competing for a championship at the end of the day," he said via Fox Sports. "I'll take all the bumps and bruises that I get when I'm playing because I know that I left it all out on the floor."
As far as the Eastern Conference is concerned, there is no question that the Cavaliers are indeed the favorite for this season.
Other teams like the Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat and the Atlanta Hawks will still be among the favorites but the bottom line is that the Cavs need to properly manage their players and make sure that everyone is sturdy enough once winning time comes around.
For James, one thing working for him is that he is in a situation that he has been in before.
When he parted for Miami back in 2010, he did help the Heat reach the NBA Finals before falling to the Dallas Mavericks. The following year, the Heat regrouped and went on to finally savor NBA championship glory. They even repeated as champions after that so if the script is followed, Cleveland stands to do the same.
As James points out, however, it will be all about going back to the basics. It is all about consistency and trying to improve and the Cavs are obviously out to prove something not just for the Warriors but the teams they go up against starting next month.
"Because every team is going to come into our building or we're going to go into their building and they're definitely going to bring their energy. ... But for us, we're staring right back at them and we're coming in with the mentality that we're coming for everyone, as well as everyone is coming for us" says James via ESPN.
