What child hasn't dreamt of finding a few bucks lying around? The world becomes your oyster, endless to the possibilities of mountains of candy and endless video game downloads a $10 or $20 should be able to buy.
Seven-year-old Aiden Wright hit the jackpot of an adolescent lifetime when he found a stack of cash atop a playground slide last Saturday morning. Instead of going of a shopping spree, the Massachusetts boy chose to do the noble thing by telling his uncle and turning it in to police.
"I ran up the slide and there was this black check book, and I opened it up and found $8,000 in it and brought it to my uncle," Aiden told Boston CBS affiliate WBZ-TV.
Police were able to track down the check book's rightful owner, contractor Elias Santos, who believes he dropped the funds while playing with his kids at the park.
"I am so grateful because we don't have people like this no more," Santos said, admitting he wasn't aware he lost $8,000 until police asked if anything was missing. Santos was thankful for Aiden's honesty because "we don't have people like this no more."
As for Aiden, he got a $100 reward for his trouble. According to his mom, Aiden never doubted doing the right thing.
"We go to Sunday school and he's been taught to do the right thing. This shows the lessons had been learned and we are so proud," said Ellen Wright, Aiden's mother.
