"Gotham" Season 2 is definitely the "Rise of the Villains" and Detective Jim Gordon (Ben Mckenzie) will surely have his hands full.
To add more to the already stacked lineup of outlaws present in "Gotham," Fox has cast Raul Castillo to play the role of the DC Comics hitman Eduardo Flamingo, Variety has learned.
According to the report, Eduardo Flamingo is one of Detective Gordon's most devious enemies. An assassin that considers killing as an art, Flamingo will prove to be Gotham's most dangerous hitman who has an insatiable craving for flesh.
Screen Rant furthered that the emotionless killer, who has a hobby of "eating his victims' faces," was shown in the comics as an inmate from the Arkham Asylum.
Castillo will debut the character of Flamingo in the ninth episode of Gotham's season 2.
The Texas-born actor recently starred in HBO's TV series "Looking." Before that, he appeared in the 2010 comedy-mystery flick "Cold Weather" and on the 2011 short crime drama "Narcocorrido."
Variety cited that besides "Gotham," the actor will next be seen in the Netflix original film titled "Special Correspondents" as well as on independent movies that include "Staring in the Sun," "Sweets," "Celestina" and "Finding Albie Finch."
On the other hand, in the official "Gotham" Season 2 synopsis previously released by Fox obtained via Gotham Wiki, it was revealed that the new season will explore the "origin stories of some of the most ambitious and depraved Super Villains, including The Riddler, The Joker and Mr. Freeze" while "Bruce Wayne uncovers more secrets from his father's past".
Hence, as highlighted by Screen Rant, the casting of Castillo as Flamingo is fitting for the storyline of the season. The site added that although it is still unclear how Flamingo will be portrayed in the series given that many of the series' character has been largely taken and inspired from the comics, it is highly probable that Flamingo will play a huge role in the rise of the villains in Gotham.
The said entertainment site even speculated that if Flamingo is not found in the Arkham Asylum, he may end up joining the Team Maniax, a team of insane criminals or be introduced as a new character that has been brought to Gotham for some other reason.
Castillo's Flamingo will be joining returning villains Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) popularly known as Penguin as well as Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) and the Galavan siblings Theo (James Frain) and Tabitha (Jessica Lucas).
Furthermore, Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) and Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) will also return while other enemies such as Firefly (Michelle Veintimilla), Joe Pike (Leo Fitzpatrick) and still uncast Clayface and the Mad Hatter will also make their appearances.
"Gotham" Season 2 premiered last September 21, 2015. It airs every Monday at 8 pm on Fox.
