The WWE continues to ride high from another successful pay-per-view last weekend with Night of Champions but as everyone knows by now, Sting was not so fortunate coming out of it in one-piece.
For most of the folks who were able to watch the WWE PPV which was held at the Toyota Center in Houston, Sting was seen visibly injured from his main event match with Seth Rollins which seemed to have started when the wrestling was pushed towards the Spanish announcers table by Rollins in an out-of-the-ring melee.
Several days now after WWE Night of Champions, the good news is that Sting has finally been able to share his experience and shed a bit of light on what actually happened in his match with Seth Rollins.
Sting was in a bright mood when interviewed by WWE.com, saying that aside from a stiff neck and being banged up, all was fine with him and seemingly no different from what wrestlers would be feeling after a wrestling match.
As far as detailing on what happened with his match, particularly the part where his legs visibly wanted to abandon him:
“Bottom line, I had tingling, numbness down both arms, all the way to my fingertips. And then, later in the match, I just fell wrong, whatever it was, and this time [the tingling and numbness] went down both arms and into my legs, and I couldn’t feel my legs too well. They just felt like rubber. I don’t know how to describe it. I had to go down on all fours there for a minute, get my composure. I was a little … I was worried.”
Sting ended up requiring a CT scan and an MRI while he was in the hospital. He is still under close evaluation, possibly for a cervical spinal stenosis which Sting says was the only thing he heard when the doctors were discussing his state with his wife.
“He’s going to have to get this dealt with. He’s lucky he walked out of there” Sting says on what the doctors were telling his wife.
On Rollins, Sting maintains high praises on the WWE champion and says that he has a bright future ahead with plenty more to show.
Before he was to be wheeled away on the Ambulance, Sting shares how Rollins checked on his condition.
“Man, I’m so sorry. I don’t know what happened” says Rollins according to Sting. “Seth, don’t worry about it. It’s not your fault” says Sting in reply.
“I just wanted to tell you what an honor it was, what a pleasure. I can’t believe I had a chance to get in the ring with you and work with you. I was you for Halloween when I was a kid” were the final words Rollins said to Sting before the 56-year-old was taken to the hospital for proper evaluation.
It remains to be seen on whether Sting would be making a ring-return soon, something he says will be status quo or wait-and-see.
“I hate it when I’m asked that question because the answer truly is a question mark, and the question mark is as bold as it could ever be at this point” says Sting towards the end of the interview with WWE.com.
