NBA training camp is set to start in a couple of days and to this day, the Phoenix Suns are still hoping that Markieff Morris changes his mind on his earlier stance of wanting out.
Keef had expressed his desire to be traded earlier on after showing his displeasure over the team’s decision to trade his twin brother (Marcus) to the Detroit Pistons back in July.
The twins apparently wanted to stick together and it went as far as Keef and Marcus agreeing to a pay cut just for them to play alongside each other.
Markieff was the 13th overall pick of the Phoenix Suns while his brother was selected next (14th) by the Houston Rockets during the 2011 NBA Draft. The Suns were able to reunite the two in 2013.
The surprise trade of Marcus was reportedly a salary dump move on the part of the Suns in hopes of possibly landing LaMarcus Aldridge who did mention back in NBA Free Agency that he was impressed with what the Suns had to offer. But as everyone knows, Aldridge eventually joined the San Antonio Spurs.
Right now, there seems to be no progress on the matter though Keef was spotted working out with former Phoenix Suns great and assistant coach Dan Majerle.
Majerle is currently head coach for the men’s team of Grand Canyon University and as it turns out, the twins asked their former mentor if they could join in workouts held at the GCU gym.
The request was long made before Marcus was traded to the Detroit Pistons in July.
As far as the current row between Keef and the Suns, Majerle says that is simply there to help him out and possibly be one of the best players the Suns could have.
"I personally like Markieff. I think he’s a good kid. I think he’s very talented. Now, is he right? No, but that’s a growing process and he’ll figure it out. So, that’s up to the Suns and him. But, I personally like Markieff. He’s been really nice to me, he’s been a good kid, so I hope for his sake and for the Suns sake he works it out" says Majerle via Arizona Sports 98.7 FM.
It remains to be seen if Majerle’s words of wisdom would have any effect on Keef Morris but all that should be known by Monday when the Suns hold media day before delving into training camp.
