Kanye West is Really Running For President

Turns out Kanye West isn't kidding. That speech he made at this year's MTV Video Music Awards was just the beginning.

Contrary to the assumptions of many, if not all, West is serious about his bid for the US presidency come 2020 elections.

When asked by Vanity Fair whether he will still be running for president in 2020, he replied, "Definitely."

"It wasn't like, 'Oh, let's go rent some jet skis in Hawaii,'" he explained. "No, the exact opposite. I sit in clubs and I'm like, 'Wow, I've got five years before I go and run for office' and I've got a lot of research to do, I've got a lot of growing up to do."

"My dad has two masters degrees. My mom has a PhD, she used to work at Operation PUSH," he continued. "Somehow the more and more creative I get, the closer and closer I get to who I was as a child. When I was a child, I was holding my mom's hand at Operation PUSH. I think it's time."

Operation PUSH is a non-profit that addresses social justice, civil rights, and political activism, according to MailOnline. It was founded by Jesse Jackson.

He also commented that he sensed people were receptive to his political intentions, as he's "probably the most honest celebrity that we have."

However, there may be doubts on whether Yeezy would really pursue the highest office in the land as he dislikes politics and even admits he's not a politician.

"I care about the truth and I just care about human beings. I just want everyone to win, that's all I can say, and I think we can. . . . I think the words 'dreamer' and 'passionate' diminish my will to execute," he said in the Vanity Fair interview.

He also said that it was important for him to continue designing and being around creative people, which appears to put him at odds with the requirements of a presidential role.

Further, he revealed that he is impressed Ben Carson, and that he had tried to talk to him for three weeks.

"I was like this is the most brilliant guy. And I think all the people running right now have something that each of the others needs," he said, as also noted by Vox. "But the idea of this separation and this gladiator battle takes away from the main focus that the world needs help and the world needs all the people in a position of power or influence to come together."
