The Pope is coming to town and face it thousands will swarm to get a glimpse of the Catholic figure, meaning it is going to be rather difficult to snag a chance to relish in his glory. PopeFrancisVisit.com is making sure Catholics around the world are actually able to hear his mass.
Pope Francis will hold his first mass during his East Coast tour in Washington, D.C. On Sept. 23 at 4:15 p.m. EST. The Pope will host the mass on the east portico of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and the University Mall at The Catholic University of America. As PopeFrancisVisit.com points out, during mass Pope Francis will be canonizing Blessed Junipero Serra, a Spanish-born Franciscan Friar known for starting nine Spanish missions in California in the 1700s.
This mass is a ticketed event, however without tickets it can be watched on large screens around the city. If trekking around town to find a comfy spot to attend mass, it can be streamed at https://popeindc.cua.edu/news-social/videos/live-streaming.
Pope Francis will make his way to the Big Apple once leaving the nation's capitol. He will hold an evening service on Sept. 24 at 6:45 p.m. in St. Patrick's Cathedral. This event is only open to the clergy of St. Patrick's Cathedral, however, like the mass before it, this evening prayer will be streamed. That is not it for The Pope. On the 25th, Pope Francis will hold mass in Madison Square Garden at 6 p.m. According to PopeFrancisVisit.com, tickets for this event are made available through the Archdiocese of New York. "Other Catholic organizations and institutions throughout the archdiocese of New York will also receive tickets, who will then extend invitations to their members. You can contact your own diocesan chancery office after July 1 for more information."
