Ever since the trailer for the "Deadpool" movie was released, fans of the character have been clamoring for more information about the film in general. It seems that more information about the film have been released by the creator of the Merc with a Mouth, Rob Liefeld.

According to Screen Rant Liefeld confirmed in a recent fan Q & A, that the long-time X-Men team member Colossus will be having an expanded role in the film. Liefeld confirmed, hoping that the film's studio Fox doesn't get mad at him, that Colossus will not just be in one or two scenes in the movie. Instead, the mutant will be in a good number of scenes.

The Q & A session, which can be found on Youtube, was done during the recently concluded Amazing Hawaii Comin-Con. Liefeld stated that it could be easily assumed that Colossus' role in the movie could be minimal as the two characters have not interacted that much in the comics. Even in the "X-Men" film franchise, Colossus was really just a minor character, giving way to more popular characters such as Professor X or Wolverine.

Colossus will be played by actor Andre Tricoteux, who has appeared in "Once Upon a Time" and as a stunt double in "Seventh Son." The X-Men member was originally played by Daniel Cudmore since "X-2."

For those who do not know who Colossus is, he is a mutant who has the ability to turn his skin into an organic metal type substance. He also has super strength. His name in the comics is Piotr "Peter" Rasputin, who was born in Soviet Russia and was personally recruited into the X-Men by the team's founder Charles Xavier.

Colossus is famous for being part of the second team of X-Men that saved the original five from the island monster Krakoa and for sacrificing himself to save the entire mutant population from the Legacy Virus.

However, it is yet unclear what kind of an extended role the metallic superhero will be playing in the movie. While according to Comic book, "Deadpool" does in fact take place in the same universe as the Bryan Singer X-Men films, it will be interesting to see how the two interact. Deadpool has had team ups with other X-Men characters in the past in the comics, most notably the odd-couple type relationship he had with another metallic mutant, Cable.

While only having a small cameo roles in the previous "X-Men" movies, Colossus is one of the popular members of the X-Men. Rumor has it that his inclusion in the film is to please fans of the character and to pull more people into watching the film after the disaster that was Fox's "Fantastic Four" release.

"Deadpool" is set for release on Feb. 12, 2016.
