Boxing champ Floyd Mayweather and MMA women’s champ Ronda Rousey have been embroiled in a social media and verbal battle for quite some time.
Although the two seems never likely to meet in an actual professional match, a video game designer decided to pit them in a virtual battle to finally determine who will emerge victorious, the Washington Post reported.
Richie Branson, a YouTube user and game designer, reportedly toggled texture files in the PC version of the game “Street Fighter 4” to create Floyd Mayweather and Ronda Rousey characters, Polygon wrote.
He also provided both fighters a highlight reel of their specific fighting styles. Finally, he let the CPU take over both characters, then let them go against each other.
In the video, both Mayweather and Rousey had their own short intro scenes. Mayweather was initially featured fighting and winning against another “Street Fighter 4” character. The character had “TMT” or “The Money Team” trunks on and had an obviously exaggerated musculature. Ronda Rousey was also initially pitted against another “Street Fighter 4” character before the big showdown.
Finally, the two were set up to battle each other, controlled by CPU, to provide for a more natural course of events. Both champs showcased some of their signature moves.
Mayweather was especially good at countering hits, while Ronda had a beautiful combo that involved grappling her opponent in the air and smashing him on the floor. The match was actually quite exciting and close, as their life bars went down as they bashed and countered. Ultimately, the UFC bantamweight women’s champ won the fight, although her life bar was only one to two hits away from zero.
Although the virtual fight might settle the issue on who will win in an actual match, the verbal spat between Rousey and Mayweather does not seem to be close to ending.
Mayweather recently fought his allegedly last professional boxing match against Andre Berto, upping his undefeated record to 49-0. However, Rousey was unamused and continued to bash the boxing champion.
News.com reported that Rousey was not surprised that Mayweather’s final fight drew small numbers, hinting that the boxer’s style of fighting was boring.
In the meantime, Rousey continues to draw record-breaking numbers in her UFC matches. She is set to fight Holly Holm next, and the match is expected to bring in a record-breaking attendance of over 70,000 fans.
