Rihanna Says She Doesn't Want to be Part of Taylor Swift's Squad: Why?

It seems that Rihanna feels uncomfortable with the idea of joining Taylor Swift on stage or being included in her squad.

In an interview with NME magazine for its cover feature, Rihanna admits that she doesn't wish to perform with the singer. "I don’t think I would. I just don’t think it makes sense."

Swift's squad keeps on growing. In her "1989" tour, the "Blank Space" singer was joined on stage by big stars such as St Vincent, Beck, The Weeknd, Little Mix, Alanis Morisette, Avril Lavigne and Wiz Khalifa. Apart from these artists, her ever-gorgeous friends such as Lisa Kudrow, Cara Delevingne, Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid supported her through and through.

"I don’t think our brands are the same, I don’t think they match, I don’t think our audiences are the same. In my mind she’s a role model, I’m completely not," Bad Gal RiRi added.

Bustle even described Rihanna as a high school cool kid who's "totally self-aware and realize they don't need anyone's approval" while Taylor's squad sits on the "most enviable lunch table in the cafeteria."

The site further notes that despite Rihanna's comment, both her and Taylor are admired and looked up to by their fans. "It's almost admirable that Rihanna knows herself and knows her brand and doesn't feel like she has to change that or mold it in order to fit someone else's," the report said.

Bustle also added that Rihanna's comment is "refreshing" amidst everyone who have expressed their interest in joining Taylor's squad.

Movie News Guide reported that in the same NME interview, RiRi's new album is not yet complete.

Rihanna said that she has difficulty "cutting down potential tracks." Her album's current track list consists of a lot of songs and she loves their variety; however, it's hard to mesh them all up into one album.

The "We Found Love" singer also revealed that her album will no longer be called "R8" and has two potential album names at the moment.

Rihanna also shared that Kanye West's tight schedule might have also affected the album's delay. West acts as the executive producer of RiRi's album and wants to be a part of the production process. She also added that their schedules are "entirely opposite" and they have to wait for the time that they could work on the studio together.

However, Rihanna fans who have been patiently waiting for the new album should not lose hope. The singer disclosed to NME that she's optimistic that they will have studio time this month to finish the much-awaited release.
