A new rumor has emerged of "Captain America: Civil War" with regard to Spider-Man's character.
As fans may have known by now, the next Spider-Man standalone film will have 19-year-old Tom Holland as Peter Parker. With this information at hand, "how long has Peter Parker been Spider-Man in the MCU?" teased Umberto Gonzalez of Heroic Hollywood.
According to production insiders who have spoken with Gonzalez, Peter Parker has been Spider-Man for about a year by the time he fights alongside the superheroes in "Captain America: Civil War." When the film opens, Spider-Man is no more than just a myth.
"Peter Parker has been active as Spider-Man for a little over a year during the events of 'Captain America: Civil War.' Just like Batman in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice,' Spider-Man is considered a myth, an urban legend," Gonzalez said. This may suggest that Spider-Man may have worked full-time as street crime fighter in the first year of his career as a superhero; that, or he will have to show himself only when a super-villain tries to destroy the city. Nothing is really sure at this point as these all remain as rumors as of press time.
Meanwhile, Sebastian Stan may have revealed minor spoilers about his character, the Winter Soldier. Speaking with Collider, Stan said fans will get to know more of Winter Soldier in "Captain America: Civil War."
"[The] character had, in my opinion, an introduction in 'The Winter Soldier' -- I mean, it was just sort of like a preview of the guy, which we get so much more of in 'Civil War,'" Stan said. As of the specific description of his character, Stan teased that Winter Soldier "could be the worst assassin, the worst terrible villain, killer, whatever, or he could be this guy who is endearing, who is trying to rebuild his life so there's a lot of places to go with the character and that's exciting."
Asked what he thinks of the majority's concern that "Captain America: Civil War" is already overloaded with superheroes, Stan hinted that the film remains Captain America's film. "I know everybody's treating it like there are all these Avengers in it, like it's 'Avengers 2.5' or something, and there's an element of that, but it's still at the end of the day very much a Captain America film," Stan explained.
"Captain America: Civil War" is set for release in the U.S. on May 6, 2016, according to an official announcement from Marvels Studios. The film will pick up from where "Avengers: Age of Ultron" left off, Marvel said in its announcement.
