The WWE’s next pay-per-view, WWE Night of Champions, takes place this coming weekend (September 20) at the Toyota Center in Houston with all titleholders putting their belts on the line.

Ryback will be defending his Intercontinental title against former WWE NXT champion Kevin Owens, while the tag team titles currently held by the New Day will be put on the line against the Dudley Boyz.

Non-title matches will see Neville teaming up with the Lucha Dragons as they battle the triumvirate of Stardust and the Ascension. There is also that seemingly never-ending feud between Dolph Ziggler and Rusev. Summer Rae will be there, but unfortunately, no Lana (due to an injured wrist).

Then, there is of course the six-man tag between the Wyatt Family and the duo of Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. A sidelight for this tiff is the mystery third partner who the former Shield duo would be teaming up with against Wyatt, Luke Harper and former strongman Braun Strowman.

Back to the championship-related matches, Nikki Bella goes up against former NXT Women’s champion Charlotte in what should be an interesting match. Will Charlotte dethrone Nikki at long last?

Finally, there's the main man who will be competing in two matches in one night – Seth Rollins.

After winning big at WWE SummerSlam, Rollins will defend his WWE Heavyweight title and United States championship against Sting and John Cena, respectively.

As far as the US title is concerned, there is a good chance that Cena will get even with the Architect and reclaim his title, though that is not yet a certainty.

However, with regards to the WWE heavyweight title, the outcome becomes a bit curious.

Seeing Sting reigning as champ doesn’t seem to be clear among the plans of the WWE, although it cannot be discounted.

After Sting’s win over Rollins at WWE RAW, he could repeat that performance or fall prey at the WWE PPV, but there are a lot of ifs and buts tied to it.

One is if Rollins beats Sting, it catapults him to instant stardom. It is no longer just about being champion but having bragging rights moving forward.

Then again, if Sting wins, it could be a short reign. Remember that lurking in the background is Sheamus who carries the Money in the Bank briefcase. Last time we checked at WWE.com, the Celtic Warrior has no match for the night so a sudden strike all the more becomes sound.

If Rollins wins, it offers the same opportunity. Battered by two tough matches, why would Sheamus not cash in at that moment? Better yet and to douse all issues, how about cashing in the middle of the match when Rollins is exhausted?

Either way, WWE Night of Champions is one made for the titleholders. As far as the WWE heavyweight title is concerned, don’t be surprised if there is a sudden twist right at the end, a cash-in that many are obviously banking on.
