"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will take viewers back from where it all begun -- to the "Curse of the Black Pearl." This is according to the film's new comer, Kaya Scodelario.
In an exclusive interview with Digital Spy, Scodelario revealed that the fifth installment of the franchise will have "much more of the feel of the first film." The decision to take the film into this direction was agreed upon by the producers, Scodelario revealed.
"It [does have] a lot more of the first movie, that's what they wanted to bring it back to. [The producers] want to take it back to the beginning again. They wanted it to have this epic journey and for it to make sense, and for it to tie things up and also lead to new storylines," she explained.
As for her role in the film, Scodelario said she is going to be Carina Smyth, "an astronomer and an academic" who is "fighting for the right to study at university, because women couldn't at that time." Scodelario said Carina will embark on her own journey "looking for the trident of Poseidon -- and she has a diary with clues, and she encounters Jack Sparrow along the way, and he messes everything up. As he does. And it's fun!"
From how Scodelario described Carina, it seemed her characterization bares a big similarity to Elizabeth Swan, played by Keira Knightley. The actress after all had long since denied reprising her role for the film. In an interview with Mirror UK, she said her "time has definitely passed." Nevertheless, she loved it as "it was an amazing experience," "but I won't be going back," she said.
If Carina's story is much tied to Jack Sparrow, it is interesting to know how they will be weave into the whole plot of the "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales." As actor Brenton Thwaites previously revealed with Mirror, the plot of the film follows "a young man who wants to reconnect with his father, Davy Jones." He went about telling that "there's a curse that prevents him from doing that... he goes around that and tries to fix it and he has to save his dad." There is no report yet confirming that Thwaites will play the role of this young man.
As previously reported by Latinos Post, Orlando Bloom will be making a comeback in the film. His comeback was confirmed by Sean Bailey, President of Walt Disney Studios on stage at the D23 EXPO 2015. The film is set for release in July 2017.
