Fans would notice that the actors and actresses chosen to play as heroes or villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are chosen carefully. That said, the lead role for the Marvel Studio's "Captain Marvel" movie is highly sought after. The list goes on, but recent rumors lean towards Rebecca Ferguson from "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation," according to Heroic Hollywood.
The claims of Heroic Hollywood are still up in the air though. According to Cinema Blend, Ferguson's name was one of the three choices tossed around for the actress to play as the female lead for director Rupert Wyatt's "Gambit" movie alongside Channing Tatum. Had Rebecca Ferguson taken the role, she would've played the assassin Belladonna Boudreaux, a.k.a. Bella. The actress dropped the role to join director Tate Taylor and Emily Blunt in the movie "The Girl on the Train." This move may prove to be advantageous for Marvel Studio as Ferguson wouldn't have to deal with conflicting superhero roles. The downside is that she may not be interested in superhero roles at all.
Cinema Blend further revealed that Rebecca Ferguson has been working as an actress for more than 15 years. However, she just received her big break for her role on "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" earlier this summer. Growing up in Sweden, she started her acting career there. She began to gain fame for her role on BBC's mini-series, "The White Queen." She earned a Golden Globe Nomination for the said role, which could have helped her land her role on the latest "Mission Impossible" movie.
Previous reports from the same website revealed that there were some notable celebrities who want to play the role of Captain Marvel. One of which is the still undisputed, undefeated, female bantamweight champion of the octagon, Ronda 'Rowdy' Rousey. Fans may have seen Rousey trying out her acting skill on "Expendables 3," "Fast and Furious 7" and most recently, "Entourage." Having three movies under her belt may not give her much chance at the role, but seeing as "Captain Marvel" may end up knocking a few heads, one would say the Rousey fits the bill.
Another star who just made waves on the box office would be Bryce Dallas Howard. The "Jurassic World" star revealed that she wants be very much part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The road is still far ahead for the "Captain Marvel" movie, which is scheduled for a 2018 release. Whoever gets the role should feel proud to be part of the MCU's list of superheroes. Keep posted for more details in the future.
