Jessica Alba is standing behind her Honest Company despite being sued for the second time.
According to a report from Fox News Latino, the Hollywood actress continues to defend her company even after the $5 million lawsuit charges that claims that their products are anything but safe. Alba called the allegations to the company's products as "baseless and without merit." She also added that her daughters are growing up in a safer home because of the products that the company sells.
TMZ reported that a second class lawsuit has been filed against the Honest Company for the second time, reporting that her sunscreen products caused painful burns on the customers who used it. The 35-year-old actress and her company prides themselves for their eco-friendly, affordable and natural products.
The lawsuit that was filed on March stated that the company changed the formula and removed more than half of the zinc oxide, which is the chemical that provides protection against the sun. The Honest Company continued to market their product as SPF 30, which allegedly caused problems and burns. The lawsuit asks for a minimum of $5 million for the damage brought about by the sunscreen.
This is the second time the company faced backlash in recent months. Alba stands firm in backing up her company which is valued at nearly $1 billion. The actress stated that the company started with the idea she got when she was pregnant. With the need to look for natural and safer alternatives for her and her new family, the Honest Company was born.
"Seven years ago, when I was pregnant with my first daughter, I was frustrated by the lack of healthy and safe product options for me and my new family," the actress stated. "I started The Honest Company to develop safe and effective products not just for my children, but for families everywhere. I am proud that we have built this company into an industry leader that focuses on using natural ingredients and developing products that people love."
Alba added that their products go through strict standards for quality and safety. She also said that they put on the label everything that goes into every product because they believe the consumers need to know what they are using.
"We strongly stand behind our products and the responsibility we have to our consumers. We are steadfast in our commitment to transparency and openness," Alba said.
Alba is the founder of the Honest Company, together with Christopher Gavigan.
