'Daredevil' Season 2 Release Date, Cast, Plot & Rumors: Stephen Rider to Play Blake Tower?

Netflix original series "Daredevil" will be back for Season 2, and fans might see another new character when the season begins.

According to Deadline, American actor Stephen Rider, popularly known for his role in "The Butler," will join the regular cast of the Netfilx hit series "Daredevil" in its second season. He will be playing the role of Blake Tower.

Based on the comics, Tower is a District Attorney who forms an alliance with lawyer Matt Murdock also known as Daredevil. Tower aids Daredevil by providing him information in his quest to hunt and punish criminals.

Screen Rant, however, mentioned that the role of Tower in the Netflix adaptation is not yet known. But the site noted that adding Rider as Tower would be a significant move, as it would highlight Marvel's commitment to bringing lesser known characters from the comics to life on the screen.

Rider was well recognized for his role as Stephen W. Rochon in the 2013 film "The Butler." He has also gained solid acting experience appearing in films that include "Safe House" (2012), "The Host" (2013) and "The Great Debaters" (2007).

The first season of "Daredevil" hit it big during its debut on Netflix last April, establishing itself as one of the most watched series on the streaming service provider. The report by Screen Rant even points out that the Netflix version was much better than the highly criticized 2003 film adaptation of the superhuman character.

"Daredevil" will be back with a new season, where fans will see the return of Murdock (Charlie Cox), Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), and Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson).

However, the upcoming series may be more appealing with the casting of French actress and G.I. Joe star Elodie Yung, who will be taking the role of Elektra, and "The Walking Dead" actor Jon Bernthal, who will suit up as the vigilante Frank Castle, more popularly known as "The Punisher."

Screen Rant noted that this lineup of actors is constantly growing, and the addition of Rider makes the show even more interesting, especially with the possibly bigger role for the character of Blake Tower in the Marvel universe.

The report also pointed that "Daredevil" is just the initial offering from the deal between Marvel and Netflix. The companies are also working on web series like "Jessica Jones," "Luke Cage," "Iron Fist," and a crossover miniseries titled "The Defenders."

"Daredevil" season 1 is currently available for viewing on Netflix. Meanwhile, the second season will arrive at a yet unknown date in 2016.
