There are only a few questions in life that an average person may never actually get the answer to. What is the meaning of life? And until recently, why are the birds in the "Angry Birds" games so . . . angry?
The last question will finally be answered in the upcoming "Angry Birds" movie set to hit theaters July 1, 2016. The movie will be part of a partnership between the game's developer, Rovio Entertainment, and Sony Pictures.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the movie's producer, John Cohen, has stated that the biggest question that Rovio gets regularly is why are the birds so angry? Cohen goes on to say that the subject of the bird's anger issues will be delved into on a much deeper level in the movie.
Comic Book reports that the main story plot will actually revolve around the history between the two tribes: the birds and the piggies. The piggie's leader, which will be voiced by Bill Hader, has been organizing raids on the birds' nest for a while now and has began stealing their eggs. During the movie, the birds finally have had enough and begin to rally behind three particular birds: Red, voiced by Jason Sudeikis, Chuck, voiced by Josh Gad, and Bomb, voiced by Danny McBride.
The movie will revolve around a similar plot as the video game as the birds will be trying to rescue their eggs from the evil Pork Empire. The script has been written by Jon Vitti, the writer who also did "The Simpsons Movie" and the first two "Alvin and the Chipmunks" movies. Vitti claims that the movie is geared towards a more broader audience, so viewers shouldn't expect a bunch of jokes that only adults or teenagers will understand.
Clay Kaytis, the director of the film, has stated that the movie was very fun to make. The director claims that there were times during filming that the crew had to really buckle down and get everything done.
Angry Birds has been nothing less than a phenomenon, with the game's original download count reaching billions. Several ports and spin-offs of the game have been made, such as Angry Birds Star Wars, Angry Birds Transformers and Angry Birds Space. Game developers at Rovio have even gone on record saying that they have been pleasantly surprised by the game's ultra popularity.
The cast of the "Angry Birds" movie is a who's who of comedy and screen, such as Maya Rudolph, Hanabal Buress, Keegan-Michael Key and Tony Hale.
