Kanye West had a lot to say during the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night - including calling out a few well known artists.
The multi award-winning artist was presented with one of the most prestigious Moon Man of the awards show - The Vanguard Award. The award has been given to Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, David Bowie, and before Ye, Beyonce. He took the award winning moment to get some thoughts off of his chest, announce exciting political news, and of course throw a little shade.
Yeezy said Justin Timberlake cried at the 2007 Grammys after his LP "FutureSex/LoveSounds" lost the "Album of the Year" award to the country all-girl group, The Dixie Chicks.
"I sat at the Grammys and saw Justin Timberlake and Cee Lo lose," Kanye said during his speech. "Gnarls Barkley and the "Sexyback" album... Justin, I ain't trying to put you on blast but I saw that man in tears, bro. And I was thinking like, he deserved to win "Album of the Year." And the small box that we are as entertainers of the evening, how could you explain that?" exclaimed Yeezy.
Where he was going with this exactly, no one seems to really know, except JT who took to his twitter to respond to the shady shoutout.
The pop singer tweeted "Kanye is so cute, y'all." Whoa! Who knows if anyone was expecting that comedic and somewhat condescending tweet from the former boy bander.
Which was followed by "Jokes, you guys... Jokes. #chill." Perhaps Yeezy's fandom did not take light of JT's comments. However, Justin let his fans know he watched the speech is its entirety with his last message. He seemed to try and bury the hatchet... and maybe endorse Kanye for president.
"Btw... I JUST watched my man 'Ye's FULL speech... He always has a point. And I support it. #truth."
Ye' in fact took time out of his acceptance speech to announced his plans to run for president in 2020. He screamed through the mic, "And yes, as you probably could've guessed by this moment. I plan to run for president in 2020."
