Univision host Jorge Ramos made a flurry of media appearances this week rebuking Donald Trump's refusal to answer questions about his proposed immigration policy; questions that got Ramos booted from a Tuesday night press conference.

Speaking with CNN'S Anderson Cooper, Ramos said reporters can't let Trump dictate what they ask, believing they "have to go the extra mile to be tough on those who are in power."

"What he's saying about immigration is full of empty promises," Ramos said on Thursday night's edition of Cooper's "AC360." "He can't deport 11 million people from the United States, he can't build a 1,900 mile wall between Mexico and the U.S. and he can't deny citizenship to children born in this country."

Here, Ramos refers to Trump's six-page plan to deport all undocumented immigrants, including those with birthright citizenship earned under the U.S. Constitution's 14TH Amendment. Trump proposes building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border paid by the Mexican people.

Ramos also warned of growing backlash against Latinos. He believes Americans are feeding into Trump's rhetoric and assume calling undocumented immigrants derogatory names isn't something they need to keep in-house anymore.

When asked what he thought Trump meant in saying Ramos should "Go back to Univision," the Mexican-American journalist said, "The same kind of language that we hear from people who are against immigrants...I'm a U.S. citizen. This is not Donald Trump's country, this is our country."

While Ramos spent the week defending his journalistic standards, Trump maintained his questioning was out of line, telling TODAY's Matt Lauer that Ramos was "ranting and raving" and "very disrespectful to all other reporters."

Fox News host Bill O'Reilly expressed similar sentiment during Wednesday's edition of "The O'Reilly Factor" - comparing Ramos to Black Lives Matter advocates - as did former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleisher, who blamed the media for double standards .

"If Bill O'Reilly showed up at a White House press conference and, without being called on, he stood up and started to harangue President Obama about O'Reilly's point of view about certain issues, the media would go crazy," Fleisher told Newsmax TV.
