There is a saying that 'Father Knows Best' and depending on how you take it, it could be in the form of advice. Now that could be already done or forthcoming, and as far as Floyd Mayweather Jr. is concerned, he hasn't exactly followed his dad to the letter.

That approach seems to be working for Floyd Jr., seeing where he is at right now. Undefeated and financially stable---what else could a father say?

The two haven't exactly been on the same page all their lives but the thing is that Floyd Jr. was able to prove to his father that his decisions panned out well. He brought in riches, and best of all, has taken down every single opponent thrown at him, including the greats like Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto.

Therefore, is it any wonder why Floyd is bent on retiring after his fight with Andre Berto on September 12, 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas? What does the flamboyant one need at this stage?

As far as boxing is concerned, there is little to none left. Though he has yet to face other up-and-coming fighters like Amir Khan, Gennady Golovkin, Keith Thurman or Kell Brook, there comes a point where you don't really have to take on all newcomers.

Especially considering that he is reaching the prime age of his career with no defeats, why risk it against ripe fighters who may simply want one as a stepping stone to success?

That pretty much sums up what Mayweather has in his mind heading into the fight where many are still puzzled on why he would exit on a low note. Berto is a good fighter, although that would be justified had the fight taken place when Berto was still at his peak.

Come September 12, it pretty much seems he will get to 49-0 and match the record of Rocky Marciano. Although he and his camp says it will be the last, there are some who are still having a hard time buying it.

And surprise, surprise, one of them is his father - Floyd Mayweather Sr.

The elder Mayweather believes that his son will continue to fight, although it may be against select boxers who can rack in revenue.

As speculated before, only lucrative fights could be in store. That means fighters like Miguel Cotto, Canelo 'Saul' Alvarez and Manny Pacquiao are still lingering in his mind.

As for the new fighters, Gennady Golovkin could be an option though it would depend on the following that the Kazakh boxer will have.

Amir Khan? After being shunned three times, don't count out the Briton just yet. Between Khan and Golovkin, the former of course has a better following, and thus, good chances of raking in the cash.

Mayweather will continue to announce he is retiring. It may or may not be true. However, for someone like him or any other fighter about to hang it all up, a lucrative payday could be hard to resist - especially if the fight comes around with Mayweather still in tip-top shape.
