'NBA 2K16' to Include College Teams? Release Date, Gameplay Trailer & Rumors Here!

For any player who makes it to the NBA, looking back at how he got there is a brilliant idea.

Everyone knows that with the exception of some players who made the big jump from high school to the pro ranks (like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James), college ball will always be a big part of how they came to be recognized.

Such a scenario is nothing new for college players trooping to the college ranks, but it seems that the upcoming NBA 2K16 installment will be integrating college teams. Chances are these scenes will be part of the MyCareer mode.

2K Sports seems to have gotten licenses from 11 schools for the video game. According to Operation Sports via Polygon, the colleges include Arizona, Arizona State, Connecticut, Georgetown, Kansas, Louisville, Michigan, Texas, UCLA, Villanova and Wisconsin.

The inclusion of college teams was apparently let out of the bag when the NBA 2K16 trailer came out and showed a player sitting with his family that narrates the player's commitment to a certain university. Per the trailer, below are the lines that players will be mentioning (check video below):

"I have decided to go to the great University of ...,"

This could hint at a pretty extensive career mode for NBA 2K16, expanding the journey of actual players as they try to make it to the pro ranks.

To recall, the old career mode of NBA 2K would see players selecting a college of origin and then participating in the scrimmage, being interviewed by interested teams and then going through the actual NBA Draft.

With the said expansion, college origins will finally be given more weight and could probably add more training options for players who actually need to do so before even thinking pro.

Should this be the case, the journey could be extended as well. A player will need to develop and train hard to make it to the elite list of rookies, although it remains to be seen how extensive this new feature will be.

The new trailer entitled #Winning follows a slew of previous trailers featuring current NBA stars including Steph Curry (Beyond the Shadows), James Harden (Believe) and Anthony Davis (Rise).

Aside from those trailers, the NBA 2K16 gameplay had also been released.

NBA 2K16 is turning out to be a fully billed game to check out. For those anxious to get hold of a copy, you can start pre-ordering now.

Customers who have pre-enlisted can expect it to be at their doorsteps by September 25 while those who weren't able to will have to wait until September 29.
