Twentieth Century Fox has revealed its first human lead that will star in the third installment of its critically acclaimed "Planet of the Apes" series.
In a report by Deadline, '"Planet of the Apes 3" rumored to be titled "War of the Planet of the Apes," will feature the relatively unknown actor Gabriel Chavarria to play the role of one of the two human leads in the franchise series. However, the report did not mention the details of the character Chavarria will play in the movie.
According to IMDb, Chavarria, is greatly recognized for his role in the Hulu.com hit series "East Los High". The actor has appeared in films that includes "Freedom Writers" and "A Better Life" as well as television shows like "Aquarius," "South Land," "Prime Suspect," and "Major Crimes." He will also be starring in Hulu's car-themed drama Low Rider predicted to be released in 2016.
Screen Rant, on the other hand, noted that, even though fans might be disappointed without the return of actor Jason Clarke who played Malcolm in the "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," it is normal for Director Matt Reeves to change the human cast given the history of the franchise which have seen actors serving a certain purpose.
The report also pointed that with the lack of details provided for the character of Chavarria, it will be interesting to see if he will be an ally or an enemy for Ceasar and his ape community. Screen Rant furthered that fans of the movie will also be looking towards the second human character as well as the timeline of the events where the new movie will revolve.
Additionally, the release by Deadline also mentioned that the filming for the movie will start in October 2015 at Vancouver, Canada which, as explained by Screen Rant, is needed for the anticipated long production process for the film, citing that all the apes in the hit movie is needed to be digitally inserted.
The "Planet of the Apes" remake has been one of the most successful franchises of Fox. Last year, its "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" earned $708 million in the global box office together with massive critical acclaim reviews.
A previous report by Screen Rant has cited rumors that "War" might be the official title of the new film, suggesting that Reeves is aspiring another "thrilling, complex story" that continues on the "Rise" and "Dawn" saga.
"Planet of the Apes 3" will be released in theaters on July 14, 2017.
