Cheating spouses beware, the group behind last month's AshleyMadison.com hacks just released private information for over 36 million users, including email addresses, real names, phone numbers, and years' worth of credit card transactions.
The "Impact Team" warned of detrimental consequences if a pair of extramarital affair websites weren't deactivated, and now they're making both parent company Avid Life Media and its millions of members pay. Those who didn't subscribe don't have anything to worry about, but that doesn't stop one from taking a peek at the extensive list.
Anyone wary of their significant other's escapades can look through a variety of ad hoc websites that popped up overnight, a few of which are given below. Just remember, there's no turning back once a familiar name appears.
SITES THAT ARE REPORTEDLY ALLOWING YOU TO CHECK (Check at own discretion)
This internet investigation service jumped at exposing the "Impact Team's" data. Website administrators are constantly updating their list.
With a subscription, haveibeenpwned.com allows users to check for personal information breaches by verifying their email address. To date, they have loaded more than 30.6 million email addresses into their database.
Unfortunately, ALM threatened this website with legal action if it wasn't shut down. All that's left is a not saying as much, and a parting shot from the site's admin team.
"To Ashley Madison's Development Team: You should be embarrased [sic] for your train wreck of a database (and obviously security), not sanitizing your phone numbers to your database is completely amateur, it's as if the entire site was made by Comp Sci 1XX students," CheckAshleyMadison.com's website read.
Other search tools include AshleyMadisonleaked.com and ashley.cynic.al, giving unfaithful spouses two more reason to regret their infidelity. All they can hope is that ALM keeps taking these revelatory websites down.
