"Criminal Minds" is set to be released in September, and the cast have long started filming for the series. Reports have claimed that another cast member will have to leave the show.
Zap2It has reported that the season will premiere on Sept. 30 on CBS and the episode 1 of the series sequel the BAU team will look after a serial murderer in the name of revenge.
In an interview with Zap2It, Matthew Gray Gubler, who plays the role of Dr. Reid, claimed that another member will have to exit the new season of the show. "I am [directing]. There's a special episode. I almost don't want to give it away, but I might as well. It's the departure of one of the regular team members," he was quoted during the interview.
He said they are done working on 4 episodes of the series, and he expressed excitement for the fans who have been waiting for this season to begin.
"Reid is back at it, catching scumbags and hanging with the team that he loves and helping solve crimes," he said. He claimed that the team has had a good start so far.
For this season, CBS has ordered 22 episodes, according to Master Herald. This seems to a great challenge if one of the main characters is leaving. It can be recalled that Jennifer Love Hewitt had to leave because of her pregnancy.
The Master Herald report added that given that the cast is not enough, Paget Brewster can be part of this season. Unfortunately, there have also been claims that there is a slim chance for her to join the cast members because of very busy schedule.
The actress was hoping to join at least for the five episodes of the series, but her schedule cannot accommodate it anymore. This is due to her other show "Grandfathered," which will also start with almost the same date with the premiere of "Criminal Minds" Season 11.
On its report, Zap2It also revealed that showrunner Erica Messer is planning to give Reid a girlfriend. The former character Maeve who was Reid's girlfriend was killed off at the Season 8 of the show. This brewed speculations that Tara Lewis could play the role of the latest love interest
A few weeks before the new season's launch, fans are still clueless on who will most likely leave the show. But with Gubler's excitement, it could mean he is indeed sticking around.
