Dory, the forgetful fish that we all love in the hit flick "Finding Nemo" is back with her own movie, "Finding Dory," and fans were treated with a first glimpse and details of the movie during Disney's D23 Expo.
"Finding Nemo" director Andrew Stanton spoke during the D23 Expo to give new details about the upcoming animated ocean comedy-drama adventure film that will focus on the regal tang Dory.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, the director initially thought that there will no longer be a sequel to "Finding Nemo," citing it was a 'closed circuit' but that was before realizing that Dory's story is not yet over.
"I wanted to know that if this charming, forgetful fish ever got lost again, that she would be okay. That she would find her way home. And at the end of 'Finding Nemo,' I wasn't confident about that. So that's when I knew I had another story," Stanton said during the Expo via Entertainment Weekly.
It was also announced that the film will revolve around an ocean sanctuary where wounded animals are treated and released back into the wild. This goes along with a previous report by Screen Rant which revealed that the film will take place six months after the events of "Finding Nemo" and is set largely in the Marine Biology Institute of California where viewers will finally learn about Dory's past and her connection to the institute and possibly, the cause of her short-term memory problem.
DeGeneres together with Modern Family stars Ed O'Neill and Ty Borell, who have been cast to voice act in "Finding Dory," then took the stage to join the announcement. O'Neill will be playing Hank the Octopus, while Burell will take the role of an unnamed Beluga.
Entertainment Weekly furthered in the report that a short clip from the movie was also played during the event which features Dory being resuscitated after what seemed to be a fainting Spell. Dory was shown remembering that she needs to go to California which was way across the ocean. The clip, however, ended with Marlin saying that can bring them across the ocean.
On the other hand, Disney tweeted the first picture of the movie "Finding Dory," which gives a glimpse of Dory and Hank the Octopus.

According to Screen Rant, since the 2003 release of the critically acclaimed "Finding Nemo" that starred Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres as Marlin and Dory who were looking for Nemo, fans have been clamoring for a sequel until Pixar announced the release of "Finding Dory" to be on June 17, 2016.
