Ice Cube and Kevin Hart are back and have brought a ton of Hollywood A-listers with them for the second installment of "Ride Along."
The official trailer released today features Olivia Munn, Ken Jeong, Sherri Shepherd, Benjamin Bratt and a cameo by Tyrese Gibson.
After Ben Barber (Hart) seems to have finally won over the trust and respect of his partner, James Payton (Ice Cube), it appears the duo will be at hilarious odds yet again, while fighting crime.
The comedic pair is sent down to Miami to investigate a drug lord supplying drugs to Atlanta. The two receive help from a few local police officers, including Detective Maya Cruz (Munn). Jeong plays A.J., who also assists in taking down the Miami-based drug lord, portrayed by Bratt.
While Barber's half-baked plans land the police in over their heads, it appears his marriage will be at stake. His fiancé, Angela Payton (Tika Sumpter), sister to James Payton, is pictured pleading with him to make sure all is well before the wedding.
However, with Barber's eratic behavior, everything is sure to wind up in a disarray. The fairly new police officer even goes head-to-head with the couple's wedding planner (Shepherd) in the nearly 3-minute long footage.
The original "Ride Along" was released in 2014 via Universal Pictures and grossed $153.9 million dollars worldwide. Hopefully, the Tim Story-directed film will be able to do the same.
The release of "Ride Along 2" trailer comes on the opening weekend of "Straight Outta Compton," a biopic based on Ice Cube and his fellow member of N.W.A. The major motion picture takes place in the 1980's and is based on the Compton-based rap group's rise to fame, while highlighting social issues the five boys faced growing up.
Ice Cube spoke publicly on the challenges in getting the film to the big screen, including skepticism from Dr. Dre, via NPR.
"He was like, 'Don't touch our history, don't mess with our legacy, don't mess it up,'" he said. "And I'm like, 'We're not messing it up, we're gonna enhance it.' I just told him that we're not gonna be wack."
The rapper-produced movie is in theaters now, and his action-packed comedy, "Ride Along 2," hits theaters on Jan. 15, 2016.
