George Clooney's wife Amal might be replacing Donald Trump in the "Celebrity Apprentice."
There would not be a "Celebrity Apprentice" this season because host of the show Donald Trump is out. NBC admits that they need more time to find a replacement for the show and Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt said that they "absolutely" see a female host to step in.
According to an article by Entertainment Online, one that is rumored to be the top pick is George Clooney's wife, Amal Clooney. Before the world referred to him as Clooney's wife, she is known to be a tough human rights attorney. But President of NBC Entertainment Jennifer Salke said that the rumors are not accurate. The network is not ready to drop any names even the ones that they are considering.
When Greenblatt was asked if there was any way that Trump could make his way back in the realty show, the chairman said "Absolutely not." He also added that the network is almost done selling their interests in the Miss USA pageant.
"We will not be producing a new edition of the show this season, but it will be back for the 2016/2017 season, with a new host," Greenblatt said. "At the moment, we're sort of separated.
Greenblatt admitted that finding a replacement for the show has not been easy. The network is trying to find someone with a punch of personality and would amplify the noise. He further said that there are just few people out there who fit the bill. He said that Trump worked out as host because he didn't have any filter, he just said whatever he has to say whether someone agrees or not.
NBC ended their business with Trump in June when he made racists comments about immigrants. NBC dropped the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants. The network also revealed that they are working on ending some co-ownership with Trump.
"At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values. Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBC Universal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump," the network said in a statement.
In another article by Daily Mail, aside from Amal Clooney, Jessica Alba who is the founder of Honest Company is also rumored to be a top pick. The same goes for Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg.
If Amal is then put as host of the show, it would help that the couple lives in Manhattan where "Celebrity Apprentice" shoots. She will still be able to go to Columbia University where she works as a visiting professor.
