Over 30 years have passed since Ridley Scott's "Alien" movie came out. Since then, the movie sprung three more sequels with James Cameron's "Aliens" considered as the last of the franchise to garner fans and critics' approval. Director Neill Blomkamp is now on the spotlight with "Alien 5," which fans are desperately hoping to pay tribute to the classic science-fiction horror movie.

So far, there has been no official release date for the movie. The only news fans can get are bits and pieces that Blomkamp shares on his Instagram posts. The most recent of this trail of bread crumbs would be the picture of what the director called the "Alien Room," according to Slash Film.

"Alien 5" is highly talked about in Tinsel town, according to Movie News Guide. The report added that fans presume this sequel will make a connection to its first two sequels. What was divulged further was that "Alien 5" will be set with in the timeline of "Alien" and "Aliens."

Meanwhile, Blomkamp is highly acclaimed for his works on "District 9," "Elysium" and "Chappie." His works on such science-fiction films have endowed the director with great expectations from the fans to give the film a unique yet familiar touch, according to Master Herald.

The report further revealed that Blomkamp is being careful not to overlap with "Prometheus 2," which is on the same genre. In addition, fans want to see a more grounded portrayal of the Marines who have changed significantly in personality and attitude throughout the series.

Blomkamp's "Alien 5" gave fans of the franchise some hope that it will do justice to the first to movies. As for the rest of the sequel, others were not so kind in their opinions. According to Movie Pilot, the films succeeding "Aliens" by Cameron have spoiled the reputation of the franchise. The report called David Fincher's "Alien 3" divisive, "Alien: Resurrection" as unenthusiastic and "Prometheus" as poorly-written.

The report showed great disappointment with Prometheus, which was supposed to be a sequel to the 1979 "Alien." The blame first fell on Damon Lindelof, screenwriter for the prequel, who rewrote the script from John Spaights' original script. Others blamed Ridley Scott for not keeping a keen eye on the details of the film. Fans went so far as to make a video letter addressed to the director, urging him to do a better job with "Prometheus 2." Although the movie was undoubtedly beautiful, horribly written characters and worse dialogues dragged the film down.

So far, only Sigourney Weaver and Micheal Beihn are said to be on board with the movie. Weaver will once again battle Xenomorphs in "Alien 5," which is set for release sometime in 2016.
