Celtics Shelves Zoran Dragic, Moves To Europe For Longer Play Time

The Celtics Team has finally let go of Zoran Dragic after he was acquired from the Miami heat few weeks ago. The deal fairly gave the Miami Heat some savings and a budget ceiling for another player whereas the Celtics acquired him as an asset to their team. But now, the Celtics have taken the long route and made the announcement during a press release. According to NBC S

ports, Dragic's representative told Mark Stein of ESPN that the deal to let him go has somehow made him look forward to his time in Europe in search for a longer "Playing Time."

Zoran and Goran Dragic are among the few siblings playing in the same team in the NBA, but fell short of continuing their team up when the Miami Heat traded Zoran to the Boston Celtics and retained Goran in the team by giving the highest pay due to him. According to Goran Dragic, Zoran's plan to move to Europe will give him his ultimate desire to play longer minutes and much needed important role in his games. Miami Heat's move to trade Dragic has immensely given them the tax break they needed by shedding the salary cap for Dragic.

Dragic who is a 6'5" forward has made 16 appearances while he was still with the Phoenix Suns and the Miami Heat teams. In the 2014 - 2015 season, he averaged 1.8 points in 4.7 minutes of playtime during his stint with the Miami heat team. His season high score reached 22 points when they played against the Philadelphia Sixers in April 5, 2015. According to SI, Zoran's agents welcomed the move just so the Slovenian player could return to Europe and play professionally there.

According to the BleacherReport, Celtics waived Dragic because of some salary issues that may have put the Celtics team at a disadvantage. In a Twitter post by Eric Pincus, Dragic is listed by the Celtics at $1.7 million, against the $1.6 million handed to them by the Miami Heat. Dragic might have also seen the impossible as the Boston Celtics James Young and R.J Hunter that could steal his hopes to have more playtime in the NBA. His statistics have also been far from impressive, and if this will be used as a basis, his season high score of 22 against the Philadelphia Sixers may not be enough to encourage another team to take him.
