Jobs From Home a Growing Trend Among Moms

Some of us moms decide to stay at home for a number of reasons. The society is slowly embracing the fact that it is okay for us to be in the house while another member of the family, mostly our husbands, work outside. Economic situation is one of the main factors why we make this decision and it doesn’t mean that our role is diminished.

Here are some of the concerns that we usually have in mind:

1. We want to be more hands on with our children.

2. Some of us are attending regular school or are enrolled in an online course.

3. Some can’t find a job or it has become impractical for us to work outside with the rising child care cost.

In a report published in 2014, Pew Research Center wrote that "The share of mothers who do not work outside the home rose to 29% in 2012, up from a modern-era low of 23% in 1999," citing government data.

The rise can be attributed from what Pew Research Center described as "a mix of demographic, economic and societal factors, including rising immigration as well as a downturn in women’s labor force participation, and is set against a backdrop of continued public ambivalence about the impact of working mothers on young children."

For moms who still want to enjoy financial freedom or contribute to house payments or utility bills while being a super mom, there is a growing trend that can help us achieve all that and more.

Certain companies have been offering work that you can actually do within the comforts of your own home. In fact, in February 2015, Sara Sutton Fell of Entrepreneur reported that remote work or work at home job postings increased by 26 percent from 2013 to 2014, and that it will continue to grow over the next half decade. While the findings didn't explicitly say the ratio of jobs between men and women, moms have been exploring this great development.
