Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys died on Friday at the age or 47 but the cause of his death is still unclear.
Yauch was the former rapper for the Beastie Boys, a band that rose to stardom in the 80's decade for songs such as '(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)', 'Sabotage' and 'Root Down'.
Yauch, also known as MCA, was diagnosed with a form of cancer on the salivary gland in 2009 and since then may have found his health deteriorating gradually.
Although still unknown whether Yauch died because of complications directly related to cancer, Yauch health in some cases forced delays and cancellations for some shows or even the launch of the band's album 'The Hot Sauce Committee Part 2' .
In announcements related to the delays and cancellations of such in the past, MCA made a video giving the following statements:
"I just need to take a little time to get this in check, and then we'll release the record and play some shows. It's a pain in the neck, sorry had to say it, because I was really looking forward to playing these shows, but the doctors have made it clear that this is not the kind of thing that can be put aside to deal with later."
The Beastie Boys' popularity was not limited to the 80's only but would continue on in the 90's and gradually wind down into and after the Millennium.
In the 90's decade the band released music videos that would go on to influence how other artists filmed their own. The band's music videos were comical, creative and at the same time eccentric, and good examples of their video style back then are 'Body Movin' and 'Intergalactic'.
During the band's successful history, the band would produce a total of 7 albums and with one in particular called 'Licensed to Ill' selling more than 9 million copies.
