Channing Tatum is set on a title role to play Gambit, the card-loving, mutant-thief and X-Men fan-favorite whose alter ego is Remy LeBeau. There is no more issue about it. However, his supporting cast still remains largely in question.

One of the highly anticipated role waiting to be cast is Gambit's female lead Bella Donna Boudreaux. Deadline reported that Fox will be conducting a test for the role next week and has already a shortlist of actresses to fill the hotly contested character. On the top of this list are Rebecca Ferguson, Lea Seydoux and Abbey Lee.

Ferguson is coming from a big revelation after her starring role in "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" while Seydoux, who has been cast as Madeleine Swann in the James Bond film, "Spectre," is backed with her Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or award for her role in the critically acclaimed film "Blue is the Warmest Color."

Abbey Lee, on the other hand, co-starred for "Mad Max: Fury Road" and will also be appearing in the Alex Proyas-directed film, "Gods Of Eygpt." She also landed a co-lead role in the film, "Neon Demon," directed by Nicolas Winding Refn.

According to Screen Rant, Bella Donna is Gambit's childhood love and one of the most important character in the "Gambit" saga. Gambit and Bella Donna, who is also known as Bella and Bella Donna the Assassin, unknowingly came from rival guilds. Gambit headed the Thieves Guild while Bella Donna led the Assassins Guild. The two were subjected in an arranged marriage, but the event ended in tragedy when Remy LeBeau killed Bella Donna's brother, Julien, who challenged him in a death match.

The news outlet reveals that the fans' top choice for the role is Ferguson who proves in "Rogue Nation" that she can do action. But the report also cited that Seydoux should not be counted out as she already played an assassin role in "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol." Lee is the "wildcard" in the group given her limited experience in filmmaking, but her involvement in action in the "Fury Road" might help her get the role.

Directed by Rupert Wyatt, the "X-Men" spinoff has been given a near $150 million dollar budget, hinting that that there are things coming big for the 'Gambit' movie, according to another report from Screen Rant.

"Gambit" is scheduled to be released on October 2016.
