The MLS returns after mid-week CONCACAF Champions League action. Headlining this round of matches are Sunday's matches as the LA Galaxy host a struggling Seattle Sounders side, as well as the New York Red Bulls who take on their city rivals New York City FC.

Starting with Sunday's headliners we preview every game this weekend. All times are Eastern time.

LA Galaxy vs Seattle Sounders, Stubhub Center, Sunday, August 9th, 16:00

The ever improving LA Galaxy will take the field on Sunday as overwhelming favorites against a Sounders team that has only scored once in their last five matches and appears to be on a constant downward spiral.

The Galaxy will have the added momentum of Giovani Dos Santos, who having joined the LA outfit, opened his account for the Galaxy during their mid-week Champions League tie.

The Galaxy, however, have flattered to deceive at times this season and their inconsistent form will be a concern for their boss Bruce Arena.

The Sounders will hope that they can spring a surprise at the Stubhub, which would leave them just two points behind the Galaxy as they look to rebuild their season and guarantee themselves a place in the post-season..

New York Red Bulls vs New York City FC, Yankee Stadium, Sunday, August 9th, 19:00

Having gained two victories already this season against their wealthy neighbors, the New York Red Bulls will be confident of claiming a clean sweep against a NYFC side that has dropped four of their last five matches.

City will, however, be boosted by their all-star midfield duo Andrea Pirlo and Frank Lampard who are set to start their first match together, a pairing that along with the quality of World Cup winner David Villa could be the difference in this match and fire City to the playoffs.

The Red Bulls have recently added a designated player of their own in Argentine Gonzalo Veron and will hope that along with addition Shaun Wright-Philips the team will be inspired to achieve a third win over their rivals this season.

The Red Bulls come into the match with an unbeaten streak of four, and despite the famous players in the City lineup, will look to seal their superiority in New York. This hotly anticipated derby could be one of the games of the season.
