Busta Rhymes reportedly caused a scene at a New York City gym Wednesday night -- he was arrested after being accused of throwing chocolate-flavored protein powder at a Steel Gym employee in Manhattan.

The two men were reportedly already arguing when the protein powder hit the fan. It is still unclear as to what initially incited the altercation.

Sources told New York Daily News that the incident occurred when the Brooklyn emcee tried to bring a cameraman into the facility to record his workout routine, and the employee denied the request.

Rhymes then supposedly returned to purchase a water and a chocolate-flavored Lean Body drink, and the employee told him he had to leave -- a bodybuilder from Brooklyn, Sean Aird, said this is when things turned ugly:

"Things got heated. Busta splashed water on him and the employee threw water back. Busta's security got between them. The cops came and (the employee) kept changing his story."

The publication added that other eye-witnesses agreed that the employee had it out for the rapper, as the two had had run-ins in the past.

"This has been going on for a long time," the employee told the publication.

In a police report obtained by ABC7, the "Gimme Some More" rapper was arrested after he "threw a bottle full of liquid at [his accuser]." ABC 7 also learned that "The worker was not seriously injured but pressed charges."

Rhymes was arrested and released after entering a not guilty plea. His lawyer, defense attorney Scott Leemon, has since spoken out on the matter.

"These charges are a bunch of bull. It's another attempt of someone trying to take advantage of his celebrity status," he said.

The 42-year-old rapper has since then took to his Instagram account to update his fans on his status. He also thanked everyone who came to his defense.

"Thanks to everyone who helped expedite this evening for me. I'm good and we're back to the grind. Heading 2 the studio 2 turn the bulls--- into GREATNESS. I'm super good," he wrote.

Rhymes is due back in court on Nov. 6.
