The Meek Mill vs. Drake feud has been an ongoing battle of rap disses with Nicki Minaj inevitably wedged in the middle. Sources are reporting that Minaj is taking a stand against her boyfriend for dissing Drake and has broken up with him for her YMCMB label mate.
Mediatakeout reports that the Trinidadian emcee broke up with the Philly rapper. "I think they took their relationship too far, too fast," a friend of hers stated.
Meek may have gotten ahead of himself, blasting that Drizzy does not write his own rhymes. While the two's rap battle has continued on, fans have crowned the Toronto emcee the winner, and Minaj has kept quiet on weighing in.
Drake and Minaj have had years of flirtation through their musical duets and appearances together, as well as the latter's infamous lap dance on the former in her "Anaconda" music video. Drake has not hid his affection for his label mate, dotingly rapping about his love for her on his track, "Miss Me." "I love Nicki Minaj / I told her I'd admit it," he raps. "I hope one day we get married just to say we f**kin' did it." It seems that Minaj is reconsidering Meek for Drake, who has held a torch for her throughout the years.
While years of attraction between Minaj and Drake seemed that they would inevitably hook up, the "Truffle Butter" rapper was always in a serious relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Safaree Samuels, who had dated her for over a decade before she broke up with him. Meek then seemed to secure Minaj on his arm and quickly heated up their own serious romance.
On July 27, Meek and Minaj released their music video for "All Eyes On You." The visual is packed with PDA, confirming that they are not only together, but also deeply in love -- that is until Meek recently took the initiative of a rap showdown with her close pal.
Even if the couple has ended their romance, they still plan to continue their professional relationship, as they complete Minaj's "The Pinkprint" tour together. Announcing a relationship with Drake while on tour with Meek could make for a messy situation. However, once Minaj's tour is wrapped at the end of the summer, all eyes will be on the long-awaited pairing of Drake and Minaj.
