Sweden's captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic has finally been nominated for Ballon D'Or at the ripe age of 31.
The Swedish striker has long been considered one of the best of his kind in the world, but his attitude and work ethic have been put into question a number of times. It seems that his tremendous exploits in 2012 were too great to be overlooked and he is now among the 23 best players in the world.
He finished first in scoring in the Italian Serie A with 28 goals in 32 matches. He also had five goals and four assists in eight UCL matches for AC Milan. After his Italian exploits, he moved to France to play for Paris St. Germain where he has continued his torrid pace. He has 10 goals in 10 games to lead the French League in scoring.
In the UCL he has helped PSG to gain second place in Group A with two goals in four matches.
His Euro 2012 was cut short, but he managed to score two goals, including a gorgeous gravity defying volley and his international play has only improved since. In a recent friendly he erupted for four goals against England and also led Sweden to a heroic 4-4 draw against Germany after his team was down 4-0 late in the match.
Biggest Moment of the Year: Scoring 28 goals to lead the Italian League in scoring.
Chances of a Top Three Finish: His chances are decent considering his top form to start the 2012-13 season both in France and internationally. However, since coaches and captains vote, his attitude and questionable work ethic could prevent him from making big news this year.
