The good news keeps coming for One Direction during their "On the Road Again" world tour -- their just-released track, "Drag Me Down," has already hit a new record, and Louis Tomlinson has finally spoken out about his "buzzing" new joy of becoming a father! While Zayn Malik's departure seemed to question the future direction of the boy band, recent strides have proven nothing is standing in the way of their success.
Without warning, 1D released "Drag Me Down" on July 31, and fans rushed to the Internet to listen to the latest hit that garnered 4.75 million plays on Spotify. Now, Forbes has announced that the song has set a new record for the largest amount of streams in one day on Spotify. Their successful streaming record has also made it the first track to rank number one in its first day of release on Spotify's Global Chart.
The "Steal My Girl" crooners are expected to drop their fifth studio album by the end of the year, and "Drag Me Down" is the first single to be released as the newfound foursome. They performed the song for the first time on television via Tuesday's "Good Morning America" and revealed even more details of what lies ahead.
Rumors had been swirling that Louis Tomlinson, 23, had gotten his stylist, Briana Jungwirth, pregnant, but he had remained tightlipped until now -- "GMA" host Michael Strahan congratulated him on becoming a parent, and the singer did not hold back from expressing how happy he is with all of his recent achievements. According to ET, Tomlinson grinningly told Strahan: "Thank you. It's a very exciting time, so I'm buzzing."
While fans might be surprised to see Tomlinson finally confirming the news, if it is any consolation, the bandmates were reportedly shocked as well. The Daily Mail reported that during an interview with UK radio station "Magic on Monday," Liam Payne told the host: "Well, obviously I was a bit shocked, but he's taken super well to it."
Tomlinson is not dating his future baby's mother, but the pair has agreed to co-parent. Payne also revealed that Tomlinson is "very excited with what's going on with him at the moment" and Briana Jungwirth "is a lovely girl."
One Direction's North American tour continues until September. Despite Malik's departure and the latest baby news, the band does not seem to be slowing down one bit, and neither does their success.
