After controversies emerged involving products from her Honest company, Jessica Alba finally speaks up.
In a report by the Washington Post, the actress spoke about the controversy involving the sunscreen products from her Honest company. On Tuesday, the 34-year-old actress defended her brand after customers complained that their sunscreen product has left their children burnt after being exposed to the sun for only a short time.
The sunscreen controversy has definitely put the company under a bad shade. Angry moms and others who purchased the product have been posting pictures of burns. The news went viral and complaints on Amazon about the sunscreen are piling up. Because of this, Alba decided to speak up on the matter and claimed that she and the company's co-founder Christopher Gavigan use the sunscreen to protect their very own children.
"Protecting our loved ones and yours is the reason we founded @honest. As parents, it pains us to hear that anyone has had a negative experience with our Sunscreen. We develop and use Honest Sunscreen to protect our own children - Honor, Haven, Luke, Evie, and Poppy - at the park, in the pool, outside, every day. As with everything we do, we take sun protection seriously here at Honest," Alba posted together with a picture on her Instagram account.
Alba and Gavigan claimed that their sunscreen has been under "extensive third party testing" and passed all SPF 30 testing requirements. In addition, they said that their product also received the "best score possible for Environmental Working Group."
They also made an effort to reach out to every person that has complained about their product online.
"We want you to know that we hear you and we're here for you. As always, we'll do what it takes to make it right," they said.
In another report by People magazine, Alba and Gavigan added that the new sunscreen is even an improved version. The previous formulation was less water resistant and was a challenge to apply.
With the amount of complaints that the product is getting, the actress is determined to make amends to their disappointed customers.
"What matters most to us is your trust and confidence. We're passionate about living up to your expectations as much as our own. We've personally picked up the phone to speak with many of you... [and] our team is reaching out to everyone who has posted on social media to assure you that we're committed to your safety and satisfaction," the actress said.
