Katy Perry and John Mayer have broken up more times than Taylor Swift can write hit songs about her own breakups, or so it seems. While Swift's public misunderstanding with rapper Nicki Minaj on twitter was just heating up, Katy Perry interjected with her own comments that helped stir the pot. Though, now the stirring of the pot is being construed by many as a deflection of her current on-again, off-again relationship with John Mayer. All eyes are now back on the star- studded pair, as some outlets say they are very much together and in fact, still in love.
Reports from CelebDirtyLaundry are claiming that the "Bad Blood" crooner may have had a hand in reports that the couple split to take the tension away from her brief debacle with the "Anaconda" rapper.
TMZ snapped the singing lovebirds embracing, just as recently as a Fourth of July Grateful Dead concert in Chicago, but nevertheless, reports surfaced that they had gone separate ways.
According to CDL, wagging fingers are being pointed at Swift's camp for possibly spreading the breakup news in a jealous revenge of the pair's relationship getting more serious, amidst finding herself in the spotlight over her exchange of words with Minaj in the media.
The "Style" crooner wrote about her ex-boyfriend in her song, "Dear John." "Dear John, I see it all now that you're gone," she sings. "And I lived in your chess game / But you changed the rules everyday."
Fans of Perry are now speculating that Swift is now the one who wants to change the rules, and take the bad attention from herself.
Of course, it all seems to be speculation, since neither Mayer, Perry nor Swift has spoken out in response to the breakup or rumors of Swift's camp in spreading the news.
Perry and Mayer have been dating on-again, off-again since 2012. The "Dark Horse" singer began dating Mayer shortly after her divorce from Russell Brand. While the "Your Body Is A Wonderland" hitmaker has been in the headlines for dating a bevy of celeb beauties throughout his career, since beginning his courtship with Perry in 2012, he has reportedly not been dating anyone else even during their splits.
Swift and Mayer dated back in 2009, and the "Gravity" singer stated to Rolling Stone that the "Blank Space" crooner's song written about him was "cheap songwriting" and "humiliated" him. It is safe to say there was some bad blood between the two.
For the meantime though, Mayer and Perry may still be together, dating secretly. Or broken up. Whichever the case, they just cannot help being in each other's life, typically filled with romantic embraces. So you be the judge.
