From the Beverly Hills Hotel to a Van Nuys Target store -- Kim Richards has found herself in hot water after being arrested for the second time this year after she was caught shoplifting.
The former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star has been arrested at a Target store in San Fernando Valley, California on Aug. 2 with approximately 70 items, which worth $600 in total.
Security of the store placed Richards under a citizens arrest until the police arrived and took her into custody. She had to forego her luxurious digs for a night in the county jail but was released Monday afternoon after posting $5,000 bail.
Now charged with a misdemeanor, in addition to three previous misdemeanor charges from an earlier arrest in the year, Richards' behavior has left her ex-husband, Monty Brinson, in shock.
Brinson explained his surprise and doubt over the recent arrest to Entertainment Tonight. "Guaranteed this must be some kind of mistake, and the facts will come out soon," he stated. "She was arrested for shoplifting toys in a cart, but this was a clear misunderstanding. This was not alcohol- or drug-related."
Richards was not reported under the influence of drugs or alcohol in her recent shoplifting arrest. However, the incident has brought light once again to a difficult time in her life.
Brinson is currently battling cancer, and Richards has recently completed rehab after entering in June for treatment. Following an arrest in April at the Beverly Hills Hotel for public intoxication, battery and resisting arrest, the Bravo star had reportedly been sober for more than a month.
After completing rehab, Richards stated that treatment helped her and she was a much needed break. "I have to say, don't take this wrong, but I really wanted to go to treatment because I needed a break from what I was going through at home," she told Entertainment Tonight in July. "I truly needed a break from hospitals, family, and the pressure. I needed to go away."
The 50-year-old cited the difficulty of dealing with a variety of factors, such as her former husband's health, having to give away her dog and not talking to sister Kyle Richards at the time, as indicators contributing to her relapse in sobriety.
"My arrest was my 'a-ha' moment. I get to go away now and rest and take a break from all this," Richards previously told Entertainment Tonight of her April 16 arrest.
It is still not confirmed if the mother of four will return to the next season of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" but right now, she may be having another "'a-ha' moment" of how to get her life back on track.
