Breaking Dawn Part 2 launches on Friday and the reviews have slowly started to trickle in.
While the film has received only 15 reviews as of Wednesday morning on Rotten Tomatoes, the results have given Twilight fans reasons for optimism. Out of 15 reviews the film has obtained 87 percent approval rate from critics.
Todd McCarthey of the Hollywood Reporter leads the way as one of 13 supporting the merits of the film. He states that the film "will give its breathlessly awaiting international audience just what it wants."
Justin Chang of Variety states that it is the most "eventful and exciting" entry in the franchise.
Helen O'Hara echoes similar sentiments stating that fans will be satisfied and while other viewers may be confused, they will be "generally entertained by a saga whose romance is matched only by its weirdness."
Noted critic Emmanuel Levy gave the film a B+ and stated that the "final segment is without a doubt the most eventuful, engaging, and thrilling" in the entire series.
To be sure, none of these critics were calling the film a masterwork, but they did note that it was entertaining and had redeemable qualities.
Every other Twilight film was panned by the critics. The original had a 49 percent, the follow up New Moon was approved by 28 percent of critics, Eclipse was approved by 49 percent, and Breaking Dawn Part 1 scored a woeful 25 percent approval from the critics.
Despite these critiques, the films have all made over $200 million domestically and the last few installments have flirted with $300 million in domestic gross. This final installment is being predicted to be the most successful.
