'Stuart Little' Remake in the Works? Release Date, Cast, Plot & Rumors Here!

Beloved children's book character Stuart Little seems to be returning to the silver screen very soon.

The Tacking Board was the first to report that Sony Pictures and Red Wagon Entertainment confirmed that both parties are interested in making another movie starring the courageous white mouse. While it has been about 10 years since the last "Stuart Little" film, it seems that there still is interest in the character.

The first "Stuart Little" movie was released in 1999 and had an all-star cast. According to CDA News, the first film starred Gina Davis as the mom, Hugh Laurie as the Dad, Michael J. Fox as the voice of Stuart Little and Nathan Lane as the voice behind the family cat, Snowball. The movie was a critical and financial success with box office numbers reaching US $300 million worldwide. The success of the first movie was enough for Sony Pictures to make two more sequels. While the sequels did not make as much as the first film, each was a success in the eyes of Sony Pictures.

The "Stuart Little" films are based on the series of books starring the same title character. Den of Geek reports that the books the movies were based on were written by author EB White during the 1940s. EB White is also the writer who is responsible for "Charlotte's Web" and other popular children's books.

Currently, there is no news on who will star in the new movies but Red Wagon Entertainment reportedly has Douglas Wick in mind to produce the new remake. Wick was the producer for the 1999 "Stuart Little" film. Lucas Wisesendanger is also rumored to  be overseeing the project for Red Wagon Entertainment. With regard the story or plot for the remake, it's rumored that Sony would like to have a more comedic feel to the film. The film will also be reportedly geared towards a family audience.

The film may not be made for quite a while, however, as Red Wagon Entertainment has several movies in their list to finish first. The studio still has to complete its remake of "The Craft" as well as the last two movies in the "Divergent" series.
