Following speculation surrounding the latest cast members to join season 6 of "The Walking Dead," new revelations and photos have come to light.

During Comic-Con in San Diego, producer and creator of the hit zombie-ridden show, Scott M. Gimple, confirmed Ethan Embry and Merritt Wever would be joining the cast. However, he did not mention what roles the two actors would be snagging.

Entertainment Weekly recently confirmed that Embry, known for his most recent role on Netflix's "Grace and Frankie," will be playing Carter -- a skeptical Alexandrian embodying the roles of characters that were in the comics but never pictured on screen.

"Ethan plays a combo of a few characters that we actually haven't hit yet or weren't able to hit in other characters," said Gimple. "He is an Alexandrian, and has been there the whole time, just quite busy."

Carter seems to be stirring up some trouble in the upcoming season, as EW reported he will "be busy trying to turn the community against Rick for all the violence that has come to town."

Wever, known for her role as a nurse Zoey Barkow in "Nurse Jackie," moves up in the medical profession to take on the role of Dr. Denise Cloyd, who is vital to the illustration's storyline. Her character's surgical skills are necessary in treating a main character's injury. However, it is uncertain whether the story will actually take place on screen.

"The Walking Dead" returns Oct. 11 on AMC, and the premiere of "Fear The Walking Dead," a spin-off looking into the world as it is transformed by the zombie apocalypse, will premiere Aug. 23.
