Ever since the reveal of "Batman v Superman,"fans have been clamoring for information about the larger DC comic book-movie universe. Director of "Batman v Superman" and "Justice League" movies Zack Snyder has recently shed some light on the matter.

In an Empire interview published by ComicBookMovie, Snyder expressed how things are coming together. Referring to the upcoming film, the director said, "What we are doing is ground up all the way. It is one giant story."

"The first thing we had was the Justice League concept. The other movies, in a way, have to support that. That is our Wonder Woman, our Aquaman. They have their own creative concepts that supports them, but they do serve Justice League in the coming together of those heroes," he added.

The rapid expansion of the universe seems to have started with Superman's 2013 solo movie "Man of Steel."

Snyder went on by revealing his desire that other directors have complete creative freedom. While this is encouraged, the director reminds that everything is a "big, interconnected universe."

To ensure that all movies exist in the same world without too much limitations on directors and writers, a creative control called "Sandbox" is apparently in practice. Producer Charles Roven gives an example through "Suicide Squad" director David Ayer:

"We call it the sandbox. It has borders around it, but everybody gets to play in the sandbox. On Suicide Squad, David Ayer has a lot of specific control over his area of the sandbox. Even if he crosses the line a little bit, we see if we can push our boundaries back a little bit."

It's evident that such creative freedom allows for more imaginative storytelling. However, movie-goers will have to wait for the release of "Batman v Superman" next year, to see if such set-up actually does make for better movies -- to begin with.

Meanwhile, rumors pegging the portrayal of Callan Mulvey as Luthor's Russian right hand man Anatoli Knyazev (KGBeast) have surfaced, Heroic Hollywood noted. According to the outlet, Knyazev's appearance in "Batman v Superman" was first reported by Devin Faraci, who said (via Birth. Movies. Death.), "Lex Luthor has many agents making his dark agenda a reality, an agenda that includes keeping an eye on all metahumans, mainly a woman who walks the streets today but who is seen in pictures from the 1800s. A wonder woman, you might say. At any rate, one of Luthor's agents has a name, and that name is Anatoli Knyazev."

"Hardcore fans will recognize that as the name of the KGBeast, a Batman villain introduced in 1988's classic 'Ten Nights of the Beast' storyline," Faraci added.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is set to be released on March 25, 2016, while "Justice League: Part One" is scheduled to hit theaters on November 17, 2017.
