FOX Broadcasting is certainly pulling sci-fi fans' legs, teasing a 17-second-long clip for the upcoming season of "The X-Files" featuring its original FBI special agents, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
The brief trailer opens with flash images of a police search and what appears to be an operating room. "Are you ready for this?" Mulder asks Scully, who then whispers in a timid voice, "I don't know there's a choice." The pair's quick dialogue is followed by the series' signature logo and theme song.
After thirteen long years, the award-winning show is set to return to FOX with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their roles.
"The X-Files" became popular as it portrayed the special agents investigating unexplained mysteries that were always linked to paranormal activity.
The hit television show first aired in September 1993 and ran for nine seasons and 202 episodes. The sci-fi thriller is one of the most successful dramas, receiving 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award.
The revival will be six episodes long and include original cast veterans: William B. Anderson will return to play The Smoking Man while Mitch Pileggi will take the role of Walter Skinner. Newcomers Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose will join the cast to play two new agents, Miller and Einstein.
"The X-Files" is set to air on Jan. 24, 2016. According to Deadline, it will air after the National Football Conference Championship Game, which will give the premiere episode a huge boost in viewership. The second episode will air on Jan. 25, and the show will return to its regularly scheduled Monday nights.
Fans are looking forward to the reboot, as well as its Lego set -- last week, Anderson posted a photo of bite-sized figurines of her and Duchovny with the caption, "Time to start an X-Files Lego campaign?!"

Judging by the 8,677 retweets and 14,000 plus favorites, the answer appears to be yes. Until the new season airs or a Lego set is created, fans can watch all nine seasons of "The X-Files" on Netflix.
